Lotte Meeuse, who graduated in New Design & Attitudes has been declared the winner of the Lucasprijs 2022. Lotte will receive a cash prize of €2,500. The municipality of ‘s Hertogenbosch makes this prize available every year for the best work of the graduates of St. Joost ‘s Hertogenbosch. Lotte Meeuse graduated with the project Hypersaline.

The jury praises Lotte for her goal of achieving social impact, her convincing presentation and the extensive process of building relationships both nationally and internationally. The jury: “Lotte looks with a committed eye at our world and how we can make it sustainable by applying salt, a natural material that threatens our living environment on the one hand and can be a salvation on the other.

The jury
This year, the jury of the Lucasprijs consisted of chairman René Bosma, dean of St. Joost School of Art & Design, and two renowned experts in the field of visual arts and design: Dennis Elbers, director of Graphic Matters/Blind Walls Gallery and Lobke Broos, owner of ROOF-A. The jury found all nominations inspiring and an example of how individual talent can develop at a distinctive level over the years.

Lotte was selected from a total of three nominees, who were nominated by external experts. Besides Lotte, the nominees were: Laszlo Goudman from the study Art & Research and Dune van Rumpt from the study Illustrated & Animated Storytelling.
