Wasdroger & Autodeur
I live in a cycle, run till I fall. Feel the need to look back at my childhood and the safety of slow-moving life. I converse to learn and have to keep learning to be able to create. Creating, for me, means writing, collecting, connecting, and zooming in. When my work makes things normally not worth much thought, worth reconsidering, my work has achieved its goal. The day-to-day, unwitnessed and sometimes, the shameful.
The writing in my work is most often in Dutch, a sometimes hard to deal with necessity. Simply because it’s inaccessible to many. It is necessary, though. Because when I write about my childhood and try to connect the work to my childhood, I have to try to go back to my inner child as much as possible.
To further elaborate, a dutch poem about my art practice:
Schrijf
Ik leef een tweede leven
Niet in geheim
Niet in vermomming
Ik leef een tweede leven
Een leven op Papier
De woorden worden zinnen
De zinnen vullen, vragen op
De titel mijn geboorte
Een punt als staart
Hoofdletter kop
De enige problemen
Die ik hier ken, die zijn er niet
Die heb ik zelf verzonnen
Geen echte pijn
Geen echt verdriet
In woorden ben ik veilig
In woorden word ik
Stil geliefd
Geniet er zelf uitbundig van
Beschouwd als echte romantiek
Het maakt me zwaar
Raakt me diep
Mijn levens te aanschouwen
Vecht niet de ene, met de ander
Laat ze elkaar bouwen
